The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) renewed its support for the right of the State of Palestine to restore full sovereignty over the city of Jerusalem, to protect its Arab identity and preserve its human heritage.

This came in a statement, yesterday, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the burning of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The statement stressed the need for the sanctity of all Islamic holy sites and Christianity in Jerusalem, and to ensure the fixed religious rights of the Islamic nation, stressing the eternal attachment of Muslims around the world to the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The statement said: «these days mark the painful 50th anniversary of the sinful attempt to burn the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first of the two kisses and the third of the Two Holy Mosques, in light of the continued escalation of Israeli violations of the Al-Aqsa Mosque».

He added: «These violations restrict the access of Muslim worshipers to him, and the repeated attacks on them inside his yards, and close its gates, and enable the settlers to storm his yards, in addition to the intensification of excavations under and around him.

He stressed that these violations come within the framework of Israel's plans to Judaize the city of Jerusalem and to change its geographical and demographic character and isolate it from its Palestinian surroundings, in flagrant violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

The organization called on the international community to pressure Israel to abide by the principles of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy and to end its occupation of the entire territory of the occupied Palestinian state.

The organization paid tribute to the Palestinian people stationed in the city of Jerusalem, reaffirming its continued solidarity, standing by it and supporting its legitimate rights as the capital of the State of Palestine.

This came at a time when the crews of the Israeli municipality distributed demolition and evacuation notices to the facilities in the vicinity of the annexation and expansion wall near Qalandiya Camp, which were concentrated in Al-Matar neighborhood. Issuing the necessary licenses.
