A police patrol was at Torråsen on the morning of 14 August when they were contacted by the Regional Management Center regarding the now suspected terrorist suspect on Stortorget in Östersund. According to the file attached to the District Court, someone had called the police and told something (what is masked in the documents) that caused the Regional Management Center to decide to send patrols to Stortorget in Östersund.

It was decided that they would drive towards the square and come up from Köpmangatan and that the second patrol would come via Storgatan.

As the current patrol turns up at Stortorget, they see a green volvo driving past the Bishop arms pub on Stortorget. There is the car, police say to his colleague. The patrol drives straight to the car to stop it. According to the police, the suspect then runs at speed. Police shout in the radio that they have hit the car and that the suspect is driving towards Köpmangatan.

Does not stop at the call of the police

According to police, the man swerves past them and speeds up slightly. The police also turn over their vehicle and follow after a volvo. According to the police officer's information, the suspect turns down onto the square and continues in the direction of Köpmangatan and Badhusparken, the police estimate that the speed is 30-40 kilometers per hour and increasing. Stop attempts are made, but not heard by the driver. Police believe the man will continue moving forward. "The trip goes a bit wobbly, one moment to the right and one moment to the left". After a while, the volvo turns left and collides with a concrete foundation.

The police rush out and pull their service weapon. According to police, the suspect then raises his hands and shows them through the car window. The man receives handcuffs and is placed in a police car.

Empty cans in the luggage compartment

After the suspect collided with the stone foundation, it began to smoke from the car and slightly colored liquid ran out of the car. One of the police officers who arrived at the scene saw that there were cans in the car's luggage compartment a total of three gasoline cans. The police then opened the tailgate and felt the thumps, but quickly found that they felt empty and therefore left them there.
