Fiona Ferro, 72nd, qualified for the second round of the New York tournament, easily eliminating Viktorija Golubic (73), 6-0, 6-1, on Monday.
Out of qualifying, the French will meet in the next round the number one seed of the tournament, the Chinese Qiang Wang, 18th in the world.
