At the microphone of Europe 1, Michel Veunac defended criticism of some of its citizens, who believe that the security device deployed in the city for the G7 may penalize the local economy.

Biarritz under siege? As the G7 summit opens on Saturday, the seaside resort of the Basque coast is being imposed a security device such as it has never known, so as to accommodate the presidents and heads of government of the main countries industrialized world. However, many traders have expressed concern over the past few days, saying the closure of some neighborhoods will directly affect their turnover.

"I refute the word 'bunkerised' because there are a number of constraints and inconveniences," defended Tuesday at the microphone of Sebastien Krebs on Europe 1, the mayor of Biarritz, Michel Veunac (MoDem). "It is natural that events of this magnitude can be completely secure."
