Naomi Osaka, forced to retire in the quarter-finals on Sunday in Cincinnati because of a left knee pain, however, kept Monday her place of world No.1 while the American Madison Keys, winner in Ohio, reinstates the Top 10.

The Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, she, finds the Top 5 (+2) for the first time since March despite his defeat in the third round in Cincinnati.

The 21-year-old Japanese, who returned to the top of the WTA standings on August 12 after giving up her throne for a month and a half to Australia's Ashleigh Barty, is in the final stretch before the US Open ( August 26-September 8) in the position of patroness of women's tennis.

Barty could nevertheless have taken the place of N.1 world to the Japanese in case of victory in Cincinnati. But the winner of Roland Garros in June was stopped in the semi-finals by the revenge Svetlana Kuznetsova, 34, finally defeated in the final by Madison Keys.

The success of the latter in Ohio allows him to recover the 10th place at the WTA, a first for the American since June 25, 2018.

Keys, N.18 World last week, has gained eight places thanks to its title, the biggest increase in the Top 50 this week.

French side, only Caroline Garcia is in the top 30. But the 25-year-old, knocked out of Ohio, lost three places and is now 28th.
