A cruise robot fired from the ground flew a distance of over 50 miles and hit its target, the Pentagon Defense Quarterly announces. The test was conducted on Sunday on an island in the Pacific off Los Angeles.

Agreement from 1987

US newly appointed Secretary of Defense Mark Esper recently announced that the country intends to place more medium-range robots in Asia.

The INF agreement was concluded between the United States and the then Soviet Union in 1987, stipulating that all medium-range robots with ranges over 500 kilometers should be abolished.

Means that Russia made a departure

The US withdrew the agreement in early August, citing Russia's breach of it. Russia refuses to do so and has responded by also leaving.
