It has been called the largest Swedish industrial venture of modern times. Batteries for, among other things, electric cars will be manufactured at the factory in Skellefteå and more than 2,500 employees will be needed.

That is why the battery manufacturer Northvolt is on a recruitment tour together with the Employment Service. The company visits 14 different cities in Sweden and today they visited Malmö.

- The big recruitment will really start next year. We already have about a hundred jobs to look for, but what we are doing now is to investigate the labor market to see what interest there is and what needs we have to meet, says Katarina Borstedt, who is responsible for supplying competence at Northvolt.

She says that the factory will need to employ people at all levels - from engineers to cleaners - all that is needed for an entire factory to function.

But is there a will and opportunity to recruit people who live over 100 miles away? Yes, when we ask those gathered at the Employment Service to listen to the company, the distance seemed to be no problem.

- I can move for a job. I am alone so there is no problem, says Ziad al Ieadi from Arlöv who is a job seeker.

Waseem Ahmed has worked in banking in Pakistan but has been living in Malmö for some time. He could also consider moving north for his career.

- For the opportunity to work with something that I am passionate about, I could move hundreds, thousands of miles even, says Waseem Ahmed.
