The Arena of La Defense, Racing 92, will host the first leg of the Supersevens, the new championship of France professional rugby sevens on February 1, announced Monday the National Rugby League (LNR).

Sixteen teams, one per Top-14 club, one from Monaco and one guest, will participate in this new competition which will be held from 2020-2021 in three stages of classification plus a final stage.

The League and the Federation (FFR) want with the Supersevens develop a culture of sevens in France for the Olympics 2024 in Paris.

France's men's and women's teams have so far failed to qualify for Tokyo 2020 but will have a last chance in a repechage tournament at the end of the season.
