Lennart Kalderén is the chairman of the municipal council in Salem. He strongly disapproves of Stefan Löfven's (S) proposal for changes in the municipal equalization system:

- That's the bottom. Should be a tough blow to our economy, says Lennart Kalderén.

He believes that Löfven's proposal means that the municipality of Salem would contribute nearly 4 million more - for equalization purposes.

- It equals six teacher services for us.

"Should money go from places where people move in?"

He also considers that 90 percent of the differences between Sweden's municipalities are already leveled in the current system.

Don't you agree with the Prime Minister that the situation is tough for many sparsely populated municipalities?

- The social development is like that. After all, the rural area has problems with depopulation. But the metropolitan regions have their economic challenges; new preschools for example. The question is whether money should go from places where people move in to places where they move out ?, says Lennart Kalderén.

No, the chairman of the municipal council in Salem sees another solution to the problem.

- Small rural municipalities should cooperate more to reduce their costs, I think, he says.
