Johnson called for excluding backstop clause from Brexit deal

“Backstop cannot be part of an agreement on Britain's exit from the EU. This is a fact that we must admit. I think our goal is to find other solutions, and I believe that reaching an agreement is possible, ”Johnson said in a statement.

He stressed that the British government would not establish a rigid border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and introduce additional checks and controls.

Johnson previously stated the need to reach a free trade agreement with EU countries after Brexit.
