Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi presided over an extraordinary meeting in Riyadh of senior government officials, the official Yemeni News Agency reported, amid expectations of crackdowns on the UAE against the backdrop of the events in Aden.

The Yemeni News Agency reported that Hadi chaired a meeting of the Yemeni state leadership, where they discussed "the repercussions of the armed rebellion in the interim capital Aden by the security and military formations of the so-called Southern Transitional Council, targeting state institutions, camps and security headquarters, threatening the unity, safety and stability of the homeland. Contrary to the objectives of the coalition. "

The meeting, the first since the Aden coup, dealt with the implementation of what was agreed with Saudi Arabia to end the insurgency in Aden, and the withdrawal of militias supported by the UAE.

Press reports quoted a Yemeni government source as saying that President Hadi was taking tough measures after the first day of the clashes in Aden, but Saudi Arabia intervened and asked for five days to end the events.

The source added that Hadi's actions against the UAE would be harsh, including expelling it from the coalition and Yemen, along with its entire forces, and filing a formal complaint against it in the Security Council for supporting a coup and working to separate Yemen and divide its territory.

Meanwhile, three Yemeni sources said that the refusal of separatists in southern Yemen to give up control of the port of Aden led to the postponement of a summit previously called by Riyadh, to discuss the restructuring of the Yemeni government, which was overthrown by the Houthis, to include separatists, while ending the tense situation.

The sources said that the inclusion of the Southern Transitional Council of the government is linked to its full withdrawal first and end the "coup", while the forces of the Council refused to withdraw.

Reuters quoted a Yemeni official as saying one option would be to transfer presidential powers to a new vice president, making Hadi, 73, a Riyadh resident a symbolic figure.
