A painter with a world-famous name, Banksy remains anonymous. The most famous street artist of his time denounces the woes of a sick society in works that dress the walls of the world. If speculation about his identity is going well, the appeal of his name is a vein for many exhibitors.

At the Drouot Lafayette space in Paris, "The World of Banksy" becomes accessible for 14 euros. The immersive exhibition is supposed to immerse the viewer in the heart of the street artist's art. On a high ocher-colored wall are the little girl with the balloon, the dove in armor, but also the flower thrower, iconic works signed by the mysterious Banksy , rocked by the purring helicopters.

Forty copies of Banksy's works

" What's disappointing is that it's not really his works . These are reproductions. After, I find it very, very well done, "says a visitor, fine connoisseur of the artist.

These messages of peace which adorn the wall of Bethlehem, symbol of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict , are reproduced identically in the Parisian room. It offers an immersion in the most emblematic works of the artist. Forty reproductions punctuate the course.

" We can not have the originals. They have all been vandalized or removed for some . We can not help but make copies. And especially works that are physically around the world, for those that still exist. So even if someone wants to see them, he should do San Francisco, Paris, London ... around the world ! ", Details Hazis Vardar, curator of the exhibition.

Banksy, who denounces the consumer society and its excesses, has become a lucrative industry. In Paris, 500 curious people flock every day to dive into his provocative and poetic world, while on the art market, his works fly away or are cut in situ to be resold under the mantle.
