In Benin, and according to our information, the Court of Cotonou ordered, on July 31, the restitution of the bodies of the victims of the events of May 1 and 2, 2019 occurred in Cotonou, consecutive to non-inclusive and highly contested legislative elections in 'arrival. The army fired live ammunition at demonstrators in Cadjèhoun near the residence of former president Boni Yayi.

There were three bodies kept at the University Hospital of Cotonou. Among them, the bodies of two men, one of whom has not yet been identified. The third victim is a 37-year-old woman who was shot in the breast. The circumstances of his death, widely circulated on social networks, had moved and triggered a surge of generosity for the benefit of his children. His family would not have removed his remains yet.

The man whose body was identified was a driver. His name was Seydou Mama Assouma, aged 40 and father of six children. He was buried on Friday in Parakou. His family is reluctant to know how his remains were.

At each of its exits, the opposition demanded these restitutions and reproached the government for the lack of an official balance sheet .

The restitution order comes three months after the deadly incidents and we learn, behind the scenes, that there was, before, opening of a judicial investigation, autopsy of the bodies and hearing of the representatives of the families of victims.
