In connection with the national traffic week, speed checks are carried out in densely populated areas, mainly at schools and preschools around Halland. After Monday's speed check outside Knärredsskolan, the result was that forty people were fined and one person lost the driver's license.

-This work is recurring every year, different taps in different parts of the country, but in the West, focus has been on distances with speed limit 30 km / h, which is at schools and preschools. Mainly because there are a lot of people in movements in such places, but also because children are less likely to look around before crossing a pedestrian crossing, says Anders Schääf, group traffic manager for Gothenburg.

The police receive many requests for speed checks in school areas from principals, teachers and parents. The reactions that the police receive from road users are more positive in speed checks in connection with schools and preschools.

-We would like to make sure that the children can get to and from school and pre-school as safely as possible and the idea of our speed controls is to help slow down and realize that there is not much time you save driving too fast , says Anders Schääf.
