The Department stated, on its official website, that the specific objectives of the higher education sector include setting policies, regulations, administrative and disciplinary regulations for higher education institutions in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, improving the quality of higher education for all students of all abilities, developing an environment conducive to scientific research and innovation to cope with global developments, and monitoring and analyzing the market. To help students determine their future career choices in line with the current and future needs of the labor market, build an educational model based on utilizing diverse international experiences in the higher education sector, and encourage investment. 189 universities recommended to study abroad
The Department of Education and Knowledge recommended 189 global universities in 10 countries for overseas scholarships for 2019, including 11 universities in China, nine universities in Japan, two universities in Singapore, seven universities in Korea, 10 universities in Canada, two universities in Ireland, and two universities in New Zealand. 10 universities in Australia, 32 in the UK, and 104 in the USA.
