Al-Jazeera office director pointed out that Kuwait is studying the details of the Iranian proposal, adding that the Iranian Foreign Minister also proposed during his visit to Kuwait to establish a naval force to secure navigation in the Gulf waters, but Kuwait does not want to engage in discussions in this regard, and stresses that negotiation is the way to reduce Escalation in the area.

Context of tension
The Iranian proposal comes in the face of the US administration's efforts to mobilize the support of its allies in the world to form a naval force to protect merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf waters in general, following the attacks on oil tankers in May and June.

The attacks have exacerbated tensions between Iran and the United States and Saudi Arabia, accusing Tehran of being behind the attacks, a charge denied by Tehran, which has strongly opposed foreign fleets securing the waters of the Gulf.

Interests and negotiation
For his part, the Iranian Foreign Ministry quoted the Kuwaiti Crown Prince as saying that the interests of the region is more important than anything else, and his country believes that negotiations will enhance security and stability there.

Commander of the Revolutionary Guards' naval forces, Brigadier General Ali Reza Tungsiri, said that the countries overlooking the Gulf waters are capable of securing and enhancing security in this region.

Brigadier Tengsiri said in a speech in Tehran that the presence of foreign forces in the Gulf waters would destabilize security and stability in the region, stressing that Tehran is responsible for the security of the Gulf waters and the Strait of Hormuz.

Britain and the United States are seeking to show the Gulf region as unsafe to impose their policies on their countries, he said. The Iranian official confirmed that there was no relationship between the release of the Gibraltar authorities of the Iranian tanker and Iran's detention of the British tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.
