The decision comes after the leaders of the music school in Sävsjö drew the children's and education board's attention to the fact that it is largely children of the highly educated who participate in their activities.

- We have been given the signals that many children cannot afford to participate because of their parents' finances, says Fredrik Håkansson.

Among the lower fees

The tuition fee is currently SEK 558 for pupils in grades 1 and 2. For the older children, the tuition fee is SEK 788. But from the turn of the year, the fee is reduced to SEK 450 per term, regardless of age. At the same time, the fee for the instrument rent is reduced from SEK 238 to SEK 150 per term.

After the reductions, the fees for the cultural school in Sävsjö are among the lower of the county's municipalities, much like the cultural school in Habo.

- It is positive if we can contribute to cultural creation in the municipality. I also think that this can help reduce exclusion, says Fredrik Håkansson.

How do you manage this investment financially?

- Calculations made show that it costs around SEK 140,000 and we solve that within the existing budget. If we get more students, we also get increased revenue, says Fredrik Håkansson.
