Christian Coleman, the fastest man of the year in the 100m, has given up the Birmingham Diamond League meeting but it is the sprinters who are likely to make the show Sunday with a 200m in the Royal plateau.

. 100 m: without Coleman, less interest

The absence of Christian Coleman, who has withdrawn "following complications in training this week", deprives the public of one of the main headliners of the competition. Without the vice-world champion and best performer of 2019 (9 sec 81), who did not want to take any risk in a little more than a month of the World Cup in Doha (27 September - 6 October), they are outsiders who will engage in battle. It will include following Jamaican Yohan Blake, winner of the 2011 World Championships, the Canadian Andre De Grasse, who tries to return to the fore after two years spoiled by injuries, the South African Akani Simbine or Ivorian Arthur Cisse.

. 200 m ladies: beautiful people

The organizers have managed to attract the cream of the sprinters for a 200 m that promises to be explosive. Two-time Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will face British seed Dina Asher-Smith, triple European gold medal winner in 2018, or world champion Dafne Schippers. To spice up the race a little bit more, there will also be Nigeria's Blessing Okagbaré, second fastest time of the year (22 sec 05), Shaunae Miller-Uibo of Bahamas and Ivory Coast's Marie-Josée Ta Lou, 2nd of the 100 and 200m at the World Championships in 2017. Only Ellen Thompson, double Olympic champion in 2016 (100m-200m), is missing on the blackboard.

. Women's record: Robert-Michon to let go

Blocked at 62.41m this season, the Olympic silver medalist is already assured of his ticket to the Worlds. Rid of this weight, she will try to let go in a competition with the inevitable Sandra Perkovic, double world champion and double Olympic champion, the Cuban Yaime Perez, at the head of the balance sheet of 2019 (69.39 m), and his compatriot Denia Caballero.

. 800 m ladies: Lamote in search of the minima

Author of a very late start due to injuries, Rénelle Lamote still has not managed the minima to be of the trip to Qatar and has only two races to achieve it. Before the meeting in Paris, on August 24, she stops in Birmingham where she hopes to go quickly taking advantage of the train of the American Ajee Wilson, 2nd time of the year (1 min 57 sec 72) behind Caster Semenya.
