Last summer gave huge apple harvests and that means the trees are recovering a bit this year, the experts say. In addition, there was frost in many parts of the county when apple trees bloomed in the spring and cold makes bees and other pollinators work less efficiently. Of course, for the museums that had a canon year 2018, there will be a noticeable difference this year.

- It's less than half compared to last year anyway, but I hope it rolls in some apples anyway, says Ulla Lindström Heidkamp, who runs a museum in Karlstad

The price of must be raised

She has raised the purchase price of apples that are handed over to her museum from three to four kronor kilos this year and therefore the price of the must will increase slightly.

But, although the harvest is considerably less than a normal year, there is no shortage of apples and Ulla Lindström Heidkamp's wish is more took advantage of its fruit and gladly submitted it to museums. She would like to see more museums started in Värmland.

- More is needed, because there are many apple trees throughout Värmland and I think we should take care of the food we have in our gardens and forests.

"There will be less work"

A reduced harvest is not bad for everyone. If you have thirteen apple trees in your villa garden like Carl-Axel and Gunvor Engdahl in Karlstad, it can be a relief. Last year they had a whole ton of fruit to take care of.

- There will be less jobs this year and we always get more apples than we can handle, says Gunvor Engdahl.
