An explosion broke out at a wedding in Afghanistan's capital Kabul, killing at least 63 people and wounding more than 180 people.

Afghanistan's Interior Ministry says an explosion occurred in the Dubai City wedding hall in western Kabul, causing a number of casualties.

The Afghan Interior Ministry said more than 63 people were killed and 182 were injured in the explosion, including "women and children."

The Associated Press says there is growing concern that the incident could be recorded as the worst disaster in Kabul this year.

The wedding hall is located in the Shi'ite minority Hazara district, where suicide bombings have been carried out by Sunni extremist militants.

In Kabul, more than 40 people were killed in an explosion last November at an Islamic clergy conference.

The Taliban, which took over half of Afghanistan's territory, agreed with the Afghan government in July to minimize civilian damage, but have continued to attack government forces.

The Taliban, however, denied any connection with the explosion.
