“It is imperative that restraint is shown, non-violence occurs and urgent measures are taken to de-escalate the situation,” said EU diplomacy head Federica Mogherini.

According to her, this is, in particular, a dialogue involving key participants in the process.

Mogherini also noted that it was important to avoid violence and exercise restraint.

Earlier, the State Department called on China to maintain Hong Kong’s high autonomy and abandon the violent suppression of protests. In turn, Beijing advised Washington not to poke its nose into China’s internal affairs.
