Under the slogan "Welcome to Politics," the German government informs its citizens about the course of action in its corridors on "Open Door Day".

Throughout Saturday and Sunday, the Office of the Chancellery, 14 ministries and the Federal Press Center will open their doors to citizens for an "official visit".

Open Door Day offers more than 800 performances, including a tour of the German government, panel discussions, exhibitions, interactive activities and musical performances.

Tens of thousands of citizens are expected to participate in the 21st edition of the "Open Door Day", with more than 130,000 visitors last year, according to government data.

The highlight of the event is the traditional tour of Chancellor Angela Merkel with visitors in the corridors of her office (Chancellery).

The tour will take place on Sunday afternoon, where visitors will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the chancellor's working environment directly, speak with Merkel herself, and take pictures with her.

Merkel is also scheduled to participate in a seminar with former German bike and Olympic winner Christina Vogel, and the famous German skater Felix Neuerwetter, during these events.

Visitors will also be able to meet other members of the German government within their ministries or at the Federal Press Conference building. Visitors will have a free shuttle service between the ministries' headquarters during these two days.

Visitors will have to show their identity cards and leave large bags of security personnel at checkpoints outside government buildings before the visit begins.
