The International Institute for Tolerance stressed the importance of the role of reviving the Islamic heritage in promoting the values of tolerance and combating extremism, in view of the richness of this heritage of dealing with tolerance.
The Institute said in tweets posted on its page «Twitter», recently, that the revival of Islamic memory images of tolerance and coexistence in the biography of the Prophet and the Islamic heritage and legislation and history, is a viable solution to combat intolerance and extremism, Islam brings people from different cultures on his sacred teachings.
The International Institute for Tolerance noted that it seeks to combat hate speech by encouraging initiatives aimed at promoting tolerance, pointing out that hate speech is any word or action that can stir up strife or conflict, or discriminate between individuals or groups.
"Our difference is our strength," he said. "The International Institute for Tolerance encourages initiatives aimed at promoting the values of tolerance and coexistence among all members and components of society."
The Institute added that it seeks to clarify a true image of Islam, which promotes peace, tolerance and moderation.
Dr. Hamad Al-Shaibani, Managing Director of the International Institute for Tolerance, told Emirates Today that the Institute is keen to promote the language of dialogue and spread the culture of peace in all local and international forums, away from any manifestations of discrimination, hatred and violence. The International Institute for Tolerance aims to promote tolerance in society, build a cohesive society, strengthen the UAE's role as a model of tolerance, reject extremism and all forms of discrimination among people, as well as honor groups and entities that contribute to the establishment of values of tolerance and encourage interfaith dialogue.
The institute was established by virtue of Law No. 9 of 2017, issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on the establishment of the institute, which also included the launch of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Tolerance Award, to be administered in accordance with the provisions of the law.
