A total of 90 hectares of industrial land is developed and processed. The cost for the municipality lands at approximately SEK 320 million.

- It is the largest that the city of Borås has done historically, says Daniel Göök.

When the land is completed, it is sold. The idea is that it will end in a surplus for the municipality. By the end of May, the municipality had sold land for SEK 280 million. At that time there were around 25-30 hectares of land left to sell.

1500 jobs

For the municipality, Viared Västra also means more jobs.

- We have growth of nearly 1,500 jobs now that have been added. When companies establish themselves here, they might release some property elsewhere in the city. Then there are other companies that can get in there. It will be a snowball effect that benefits many businesses, says Daniel Göök.

logistics Boom

In recent years, many logistics buildings have been built in Borås. In 2017-2018, the municipality added a total of 130,000 square meters.

And there are a lot of logistics properties being built at Viared Västra. These are companies that need surfaces for central warehouses, according to Daniel Göök.

- We are in a fantastic route, between Gothenburg and Jönköping and further up towards Stockholm, he says.

700 meters long warehouse

Adritro Logistics, Ellos Group and Speed Group are some of the companies with large warehouses on Viared Västra. The largest is Speed Group's huge stock. Their building extends 700 meters along national highway 40. Jan Krepp is the CEO of Speed Group and he believes in even more logistics in Borås going forward.

- E-commerce is growing and largely exploding. It is important to be located in central points near the customer group, he says.

The municipality still has work on Viared Västra. Only by 2025 is it expected to be finished with the last of the quarry.
