North Korea on Friday fired two "unidentified projectiles" that fired at sea, the South Korean Joint Chiefs said, a launch that is the sixth of its kind in three weeks.

The South Korean staff reported that the projectiles were fired from near Tongchon, a town in southwestern Kangwon Province, and fell into the sea of Kangwon. 'East, also called Sea of Japan.

"The army is watching the situation in case there are other launches," the South Korean staff added.

This is the sixth test conducted by Pyongyang since July 25th. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said in early August that the shooting was "a solemn warning" to North Korea and the United States because of joint military maneuvers by the two countries.

Pyongyang disapproves of these regular joint exercises. The North Korean authorities regard them as hostile maneuvers foreshadowing an invasion of North Korea. He warned that the start of these announced maneuvers would prevent the resumption of talks between Pyongyang and Washington on the North Korean nuclear arsenal.

Friday, the Commission for the Pacific Reunification of the Country, an institution of North Korean power, announced Friday in a statement that Pyongyang rejected statements made Thursday by South Korean President Moon Jae-in on the peace process in the peninsula .

In a speech on the occasion of the anniversary of Korea's liberation from the Japanese Occupation (1910-1945), Mr. Moon declared that his goal was "to achieve peace and unification of here 2045 ", although the unique presidential mandate to which he was elected ends in 2022.

- "Nothing to discuss" -

But the North Korean commission accused Seoul of being responsible for the current freeze on inter-Korean talks and the non-implementation of "the historic declaration of Panmunjom".

This statement was adopted during an impromptu meeting of Mr. Kim with US President Donald Trump in Panmunjom, in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that separates the two Koreas.

The two men then decided the next resumption of talks on the North Korean nuclear arsenal, but this announcement has not materialized so far.

North Korea has ruled out in the statement released Friday an upcoming resumption of talks with South Korea. "We have nothing to discuss with the South Korean authorities and we have no intention of meeting again with them," the document says.

After the previous North Korean missile test, the fifth, US President Donald Trump said last Saturday in a tweet that Mr. Kim had presented in a letter an "apology" for these launches.

Since the beginning of this series of tests, Mr. Trump has downplayed it, stating that it was short-range missiles whose launch did not constitute a violation of what was agreed from the beginning of the dialogue between Mr. Kim and the US President.

Trump even once again criticized the maneuvers his own army carried out with the South Korean forces, calling them "expensive and ridiculous exercises".

And the US president said in his letter, Kim said he wanted to resume negotiations on the nuclear issue, and that "as soon as joint military exercises conducted by the United States and South Korea are completed."
