The night's heavy rain hit especially Kungsbacka municipality.

There, the homeowners woke up to a nightmare with flooded basements and ground floors.

- It's a disaster in the whole downstairs, we couldn't get away with all the things. The water only rose and at worst it was almost 40 centimeters, says Susanna Karlsson to SVT Halland.

New rain area on the way

It was powerful local bursts that hit Kungsbacka. And the risk is great that it will continue to come like that in Halland throughout the weekend.

- It wrecked down locally and then they have moved on and everything has calmed down. But there is a new rain area on the way that comes in early tomorrow and then it can again come in decent amounts, says Nils Holmqvist, SVT's meteorologist.

Holmqvist notes that such bursts are very difficult to predict. It can be moderate rain in several places - and then it winds down over individual areas. But if you live in a villa where you know that there is a risk of flooding, you should be prepared, according to him.

"It's intense low pressure"

Rain is expected throughout the country this weekend. But the worst is expected to be in southern Sweden where there is a risk of similar showers as in Kungsbacka.

- It is intense low pressure that forms during Sunday. It has a somewhat unsafe track right now but most of it indicates that somewhere in southern Sweden there may be a lot of rain. This could possibly lead to a rain warning from SMHI during the weekend, says Nils Holmqvist.

As it seems at the moment, it is mainly Götaland and eastern Svealand that can suffer from more severe showers during Sunday. But that may change over the weekend.

- This is always hard to predict. It is difficult to protect yourself from such rain, says Nils Holmqvist.
