It was early June that a young woman must have been raped in a forest area at the Park School in central Örnsköldsvik. A passing witness frightened the perpetrator, who interrupted the assault. At first, the man was suspected of gross rape and attempted murder of the woman.

After the trial at Ångermanland District Court, the man was released pending judgment, the prosecutor interpreted as saying that he would be released from the charge of gross rape.

On Friday, the district court's verdict came, and quite rightly he was released for the most serious charge. However, the 21-year-old man is sentenced to four years in prison for assault and illegal threats.
