Avesta municipality has investigated it internally and believes that there is reason to let IVO investigate if the handling has been done correctly.

The notification applies to prescription of medicines that occurred before the academic year 2018/2019.

"Up to IVO to find out if something wrong has been committed"

- It has been found during the course of the work that there has been something wrong that has been committed and now it is up to IVO to investigate if that is the case. We have understood this through the school physician, says Björn Hansson, who is head of education in Avesta municipality, to SVT Dalarna.

How did this happen?

- There is none other than the doctor we have contracted with who is monitoring the medical part so I do not yet know if you can say that something wrong was committed. It is up to IVO to investigate.

- If you notice that something has gone wrong you have an obligation to report, it is within healthcare.

It is unclear what medicine it is about

Björn Hansson does not know which doctor it is, but he says that they have different on-call doctors all the time.

What should you do to prevent this from happening again?

- We make sure that the school doctors we recruit have the right expertise and we have had that before too. But sometimes it will be wrong, if it is now.

Björn Hansson also says that he does not know what kind of medicine it is about, but refers to the school doctor.
