August 15, 2019The owner and skipper of the yacht in which Sicilian manager Eugenio Vinci died from carbon monoxide poisoning, were arrested for installing an engine in the boat without following safety regulations, causing toxic gases to escape. The Croatian police have announced it. According to the police, it is a 23-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, both Croats. The manager's two children are still hospitalized in serious condition.

According to investigations by the Split-Dalmatia Police Directorate, the engine would have been installed on August 8th. Owners and skippers would not have followed the safety rules, inserting a gasoline generator that is air-cooled in the engine compartment. Once started, the engine started to release toxic gases that also reached the cabins, poisoning the manager and two children, a child of five and a girl of fourteen. Admitted to the hospital in Split, the manager's children are still in danger of death.
