This is stated in the statement of the company on the page on Facebook.

Ukrtransgaz has completed the modernization of five compressor stations to operate in reverse mode. This makes it possible, in the event of a partial or complete stop of transit, to ensure uninterrupted gas supply for Ukrainian consumers in the eastern and southern regions by transporting “blue fuel” from European countries and from underground gas storage facilities in western Ukraine, ”the statement said.

The company noted that at Khust, Bogorodchany, Gusyatin, Bar and Aleksandrovka compressor stations, new pipelines were built, due to which the possibilities of efficient redistribution of gas flows were expanded and technological costs were optimized when operating in reverse mode.

In June, the operator of the Ukrainian gas transmission system Ukrtransgaz warned of an emergency due to a shortage of funds to pay for contracts for the purchase of gas for its own needs.

In May, parliamentary deputy Vadim Rabinovich predicted the Ukrainian gas transportation system turning into scrap metal from January 1, 2020.

Expert Alexander Okhrimenko, in an interview with the NSN, appreciated Kiev’s preparation of a contingency plan in the event of failure of gas transit negotiations.
