“This is a completely fair question. In Ukraine, the Russian language is native to the vast majority of residents, our languages are very similar to each other. In parliament it is much more convenient to speak in one's own language. If in Ukraine they want a deputy to be spoken clearly, frankly and have the opportunity to clearly convey their point of view to voters, they need to prevent the right to speak in Russian. I think that among the deputies of the Rada, the majority of those who consider Russian their native language, ”Morozov said.

According to him, in this matter it is impossible to unnecessarily politicize the situation and “impose a Ukrainian mov on deputies”.

“It would be logical if the Verkhovna Rada were given the opportunity to speak in Russian,” the deputy concluded.

Earlier, Shufrich noted that the Russian language is not considered foreign in Ukraine and members of parliament have the right to use it during meetings.

He emphasized that, if necessary, the Rada secretariat should ensure that the speech of deputies is translated into the state language.

On August 14, newly elected deputies of the Rada at a preparatory meeting staged a skirmish because of a speech by Vadim Rabinovich, co-chairman of the Opposition Platform - For Life party, in Russian.

In particular, a member of the European Solidarity Party, Irina Gerashchenko, said that speaking in Russian violates Ukrainian law.
