“I am an opponent of prohibitions, it seems to me that this is counterproductive. It is necessary to create conditions, not bans. When conditions are created, people themselves will give up what they don’t need, ”said the deputy.

The politician named three main conditions for minimizing the harmful effects of transport on the environment.

Those, as he said, are: restriction of heavy trucks in large cities, transfer of fixed-route taxis to gas fuel and development of urban electric transport (trams, trolleybuses and electric buses).

“It is necessary to solve the problem of the negative impact of transport on the environment by creating opportunities,” Burmatov said.

Earlier media reported that deputies of the State Duma Committee on Industry sent recommendations to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Transport to ban the operation of old cars.
