Ruhani: foreign forces not needed for Gulf security

“There is no need to attract foreign forces to ensure the security of the Persian Gulf,” TASS quoted Rouhani as saying.

He noted that "the Gulf countries, subject to dialogue and cohesion, can maintain regional stability."

According to him, "US actions will not bring them any benefit."

Earlier it was reported that another British warship HMS Kent, based in Portsmouth, was sent to the Persian Gulf to escort merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz and ensure security in the region.
