Petter Lindahl would take the train home to Lund 17.20, but after only 10 minutes the journey ended, when the train driver announced that he could not continue because of the fire.

- He also had to switch off the electricity supply, which affected both the train's toilets and the air conditioning. It got pretty hot after a while, says Petter Lindahl and continues:

- Water was distributed, but no information was given on how long we would be standing.

Evacuated from the train

After more than three hours, travelers had to leave the train and walk along the track to buses waiting. However, Petter chose not to go home, but instead went back to Kristianstad.

- I have a friend who lives there, so I sleep there. I start working early in Kristianstad tomorrow, so I thought it was best to sleep in the city.

"All traffic canceled"

According to SJ, the fire in Hässleholm caused the fire major disruptions in train traffic for the rest of the day.

- No trains pass or enter Hässleholm. The fire is so close to the tracks that all traffic is canceled. We have not received any forecast from the Swedish Transport Administration as the extinguishing work is still ongoing. And then we have ordered replacement buses and are looking over right now if we can redirect the trains. But it is a complicated job, says Dan Olofsson, communicator at SJ's press release.
