14 August 201919.24 The 'Open Arms' escorted at a distance by two Italian Navy ships on the initiative of the Minister of Defense Trenta, who contacted the Palermo juvenile court and ascertained the conditions of the 32 minors aboard the Ong vessel Spanish. Trenta then gave a mandate to the Chief of Defense Staff, General Vecciarelli, to order the navy to move two ships of the 'Mare Sicuro' device to carry out the transfer. The Open Arms ship had been sailing in international waters for 13 days.
