- We have good cooperation with the Danish police in general and the Copenhagen police in particular. If criminals move across the border, they can be sure that we are cooperating with the Danish police as well, says Nils Norling, the police's press informant.

No regard for national borders

The 22-year-old man was arrested in Malmö by the Swedish police yesterday after collaboration with the Danish police. An arrest made possible by the regional investigation unit.

Earlier this summer, five people also seized Malmö after a major drug attack that also led to 31 people being arrested in Denmark.

- I am not sure that national borders are something you take into account, if you can make money in another country, it will be attractive to work there as a criminal as well.

Close cooperation leads to arrests

Following the double murder of two Swedes outside Copenhagen in June, three people were arrested in Denmark. Even then, close cooperation between the Swedish and Danish police led to the arrest.

According to Nils Norling, efforts are being made to further improve collaboration.

"Crime throughout Europe is not linked to a country, but people are working across national borders and it is something we are constantly working on, too, to improve cooperation at the prosecutor and police level in Europe," says Nils Norling.
