Adel Shakeri, Director of Planning and Business Development at the Public Transport Agency, told Emirates Today that the idea of ​​intelligent rental of vehicles allows customers to rent them six hours a day through a smart application, without the need for any human element when the vehicle is received or returned. Chakri explained that the number of smart rental vehicles reached 800 vehicles, after the launch of the service in January 2017 with 200 vehicles, and then added 200 vehicles last year, pointing out that the smart rental service is limited to areas of Dubai, and can be utilized through the smart applications of my company (U Drive) UAE) and EKar, and companies that will join the service.

He added that customers must register in the system to obtain the service, by entering the data related to the identity card, driver's license, credit card, and a personal photo to verify that it is registered in the system, adding that for visitors must enter the passport and visa data, and driving license, And credit card, so they benefit from the service.

Shakri pointed out that the service gives dealers a means of transport, to be used in the clearance of business easily, by renting a vehicle for a specific period, pointing out that setting the time in a few hours to prevent the addition of vehicles may raise congestion, and prevents duplication with the service of taxi vehicles that are available around the clock, as well as that Specifying a specific period of hours of smart rental ensures the rights of companies operating the system of rental services for a minimum of 24 hours.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) launched the service in early 2017, with a tariff of between 40 and 50 fils per minute, according to the return of the vehicle, equivalent to 24 to 30 dirhams per hour.
