It was at half past seven on Tuesday evening that the rescue service was alerted to Ölserud on Värmlandsnäs in Säffle municipality. Then a threshing house had started burning in the midst of ongoing threshing work.

- We had about three miles there so when we arrived, the threshing house was already burnt out, says rescue leader Karsten Herskind at the rescue service in Säffle.

But the fire did not stop in the combine, but spread out in the field. In total, an area of 80 by 30 meters was able to burn before the fire's progress was stopped.

- The farmer had made a useful effort even before we arrived. He had plowed up the earth around the fire area and thus had to stop the fire, says Karsten Herskind.

The rescue services have therefore had to concentrate on fire extinguishing work. The farmer who thrashed managed without any damage from the fire.
