Thousands participated in "student demonstrations" in Algeria yesterday to demand what they called "independence".

The slogans were raised yesterday, the third day of Eid al-Adha, between "the people want independence," and "we will not stop until you leave," and other slogans.

Demonstrators criticized the press coverage of the protests, and demanded freedom from the restrictions, and cover the movement of the street with transparency, and stand by the people, as they put it.

The demonstrators chanted slogans demanding the separation of the military establishment from the political life of the country, and raised the slogan «civil state, not military». They demanded the release of prisoners of conscience who were arrested in al-Harak.

Protesters renewed their intention to engage in civil disobedience, which some fear, while others consider it a new step to press the authority to respond to their demands for the departure of all remnants of the regime of former President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, headed by President Abdelkader Ben Saleh and Prime Minister Noureddine Badawi .

The protesters consider Ben Saleh to be one of Bouteflika's closest names.
