Measles soared to 3 times last year WHO calls attention August 14 5:30

WHO = The World Health Organization has announced that the number of measles patients in the world has reached nearly three times that of the same period last year. We call for thorough inoculation.

On the 12th, WHO announced that the number of measles patients has risen to over 364,800 in 182 countries around the world, estimated for seven months from January to last month.

This is nearly three times as much as last year, especially in countries where there are many adults and young people who have never been vaccinated.

By region, in Africa, where health care is not in place, it is nine times as high as last year and 2.3 times in the West Pacific region such as East Asia and Southeast Asia.

In the United States, the number of patients has been the highest in the past 25 years, and in Europe, where vaccination is widespread, nearly 90,000 patients have been reported, exceeding the previous year.

According to WHO, “there is an epidemic in countries with high vaccination rates because there are people who are receiving vaccines and people who are not receiving vaccines depending on the region and age group”.

To prevent the measles epidemic, WHO requires 95% of people in the country or region to be vaccinated and calls for thorough vaccination to prevent infection.
