A civilian was killed and others were injured in Syrian regime warplanes shelling the towns of Maarat Harmah, Tahtaya, Umm Jalal, Al-Khwain, Tamanah, Hayesh and Kafrnabel in the southern countryside of Idlib. The shelling caused a new displacement of civilians, increasing the number of displaced people who spend Eid al-Adha in the open on the Syrian-Turkish border.

Sham reported that the regime's warplanes and helicopters carried out raids on the cities of Kafrzita, Latamneh and Mork in Hama governorate, leaving civilians wounded.

Earlier yesterday, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced its takeover of al-Hbeit, Sukik, the village of Mugar al-Hamam and other locations after a large attack on opposition positions in the southern countryside of Idlib.

The town of Hbeit is of strategic importance, it is a major gateway to the rest of the southern countryside of Idlib and close to the city of Khan Sheikhoun, and oversees the main highway between Damascus and Aleppo.

On the other hand, the Syrian armed opposition broadcast pictures showing what it said was targeting a group of regime elements on the Tal Skeik axis, confirming the killing of a number of them, and also targeted regime points in the landing Grad missiles.

The opposition also said it had foiled an infiltration attempt by Russian special forces in the Ghab plain of Hama countryside.

Meanwhile, the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria announced the killing of 23 Syrian soldiers and wounding seven while confronting attacks on their positions on Saturday and Sunday in Idlib province.

Displacement wave
Al-Jazeera correspondent in the city of Idlib Suhaib al-Khalaf said that IDPs from cities and towns in the southern countryside of Idlib, such as Khan Sheikhoun, talked about the extent of the destruction caused to their areas, as they said that the missiles fired by Russian fighter jets are causing large explosions heard from long distances.

The correspondent added that those who refused to leave their homes in the heavily bombed towns were finally forced north to fear for their lives, especially after the advance of regime forces in the southern countryside of Idlib.

Al-Jazeera correspondent said that many cars loaded with furniture displaced from the battle areas cross the international road near Maarat al-Numan heading towards the Syrian-Turkish border.

Syrian humanitarian organizations have documented the deaths of more than 1,180 civilians and the displacement of about 400,000 since the start of the regime's military campaign on the countryside of Idlib and Hama in February.
