The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday that two South Koreans were killed in the Krka National Park in south-east Croatia.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, two Korean tourists were found dead at 50 meters on the Krka River timber bridge in Krka National Park at around 3:40 pm (local time and around 10:40 pm Korea time).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "The Korean people who died are women in their fifties and women in their twenties, reported by French tourists."

The Embassy of Croatia has confirmed the nationality of the deceased through local police, asked the authorities for a quick investigation and informed the family of the incident. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it was trying to figure out the back.

The ministry also said Croatian police will autopsy Thursday to determine the exact cause of death.

Croatia's local media RTL and state-run broadcaster HRT reported on Monday that the bodies were found on the Krka river, sending news of the deaths of two estimated Asian or Korean tourists.

Some local media have reported that their bodies were found in 3 meters of water, and the possibility of drowning has been raised.

In response, some local media say authorities are considering a ban on swimming in the national park following the deaths of tourists.

Krka National Park, located in south-eastern Croatia, is a popular tourist destination with rivers and forests of the same name.

In particular, Skradinski buk, with its waterfalls and natural pools, is a popular tourist destination.

According to the Korea-Croatia Tourism Season Security Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding, six Korean police officers are dispatched to Zagreb, Dubrovnik and Split, where many Korean tourists visit.
