The accident occurred on the Krk River in the Krka National Park, 230 km south of the Croatian capital Zagreb.

There are big waterfalls and huge lakes where tourists enjoy swimming.

At about 40:40 pm local time, two French men and women who looked Asian here were hiding in a 3m deep water, a French tourist found and reported.

[Catya Zupan / Krka National Park Staff: (Tourists) The body was found where they swim. A visitor who was at the site found and immediately informed the staff.]

The bodies found were women in their 20s and men in their 50s, and our government says they were confirmed to be women.

Local media say one other person jumped in to save the drowning person and both died.

One person drowned in the area each year, and the national park adds that the national park is considering whether to prohibit the waters for safety reasons.

Croatian police have decided to conduct an autopsy today (12th) to determine the exact cause of death.
