It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the Government of Georgia.

“According to July data, the tourism sector suffered losses of up to $ 60 million, but a very good trend was observed in June in the Adjara region, where tourism grew by 40% compared to the same figures last year,” Bakhtadze quoted the press service.

Along with this, the prime minister said that the authorities will be able to return the previously existing growth dynamics in the tourism sector.

Bakhtadze said earlier that the tourism industry will continue to be the “locomotive of economic development” in the country.

On July 8, a decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin entered into force, which temporarily banned flights with Georgia.

The Kremlin did not rule out the possibility of resuming flights, noting that at present there is an objective danger to Russian tourists who are in Georgia.

State Duma deputy Gennady Onishchenko, in an interview with the FAN, assessed the impact of reduced tourist flow from Russia on the Georgian economy.
