The fire in military depots in the area of ​​the city of Achinsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory, has been extinguished. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Emergencies in the region Igor Lisin. He noted that work at the emergency site will continue until the situation cannot be called safe.

“The combustion there has been eliminated, work is just being done, they are convinced of complete safety,” TASS quoted Lisin as saying.

He also noted that experts cleared the railway passing near the warehouses, which allows resuming the movement of trains in the area. Earlier, Russian Railways canceled trains on a section near the state of emergency, and sent trains Abakan - Moscow and Novosibirsk - Abakan on bypass routes.

The total number of victims of the incident rose to 31 people, the agency was told in the press service of the regional Ministry of Health. Of these, 13 were injured in the first explosions that occurred on August 5, and the remaining 17 from a new wave of detonation of ammunition that began on August 9. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

As a result of the explosions, firefighter Andrei Marachkov died. He left a wife and three children, including two minors. The city administration emphasized that the firefighter’s family will be provided with financial assistance.

Warehouse explosions

Recall, on August 5, explosions and fire occurred on the territory of a military unit in the Achinsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The fire occurred at the warehouse of the Logistics Support Center of the Central Military District. An emergency mode was introduced in the region and about 9 thousand people were evacuated.

“In order to prevent threats to the life and health of the population living in the immediate vicinity, the evacuation of 9533 people from nine settlements and one recreation camp“ Falcon ”was organized. In addition, about 7 thousand people left the danger zone on their own, ”TASS quoted the press service of the Ministry for Emergencies.

Two fire trains, special multi-functional Uran-14 robots, ten Il-76 planes and five Mi-8 helicopters took part in extinguishing fires. By the end of the day, the combustion was eliminated, and on August 6, the authorities lifted the emergency mode. The sappers checked the area around the villages, and the locals were allowed to return to their homes, but were urged to avoid walking through the forest - shells and fragments scattered within a radius of 15 km.

During the explosions, houses in nearby settlements were damaged, and eight houses were destroyed in the villages of Kamenka and the Chistiy Ruchey horticultural partnership. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu instructed to complete their restoration in two weeks.

On August 9, new explosions occurred. The press service of the Central Military District reported that during a mine clearance operation, a new fire occurred due to a lightning strike. After that, the emergency mode was reintroduced, and heavy military equipment was thrown into the region to eliminate the consequences of the accident.

In connection with new cases of detonation, more than 1.2 thousand inhabitants were evacuated from Kamenka, most of them to relatives. 52 people were sent to the temporary accommodation center (TAC), organized in the nearby village of Malinovka. Later they were transferred to more comfortable conditions in the hostel - before that, the TAC was in a sports school.

Rescuers used three fire tanks to extinguish foci at the epicenter of the arsenal.

The Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia, Army General Dmitry Bulgakov arrived at the scene of the fire. According to him, the preliminary cause of the explosions is the human factor.

“The preliminary reason is the human factor. Investigative bodies and the prosecutor’s office will say more precisely, ”he said.

So, on the fact of the explosions, military investigators are checking. The arsenal itself, Bulgakov emphasized, will be disbanded.

According to the Investigative Committee, the incident occurred during the loading and unloading of ammunition. The cause of the fire is not reported, however, it is said that uncontrolled detonation of shells began during the extinguishing.

A criminal case under part 2 of art. 349 of the Criminal Code (violation of the rules for handling weapons and objects that pose an increased danger to others, resulting in the death of a person by negligence).

Achinsk authorities warned local residents of planned industrial explosions on the territory of the Mazul limestone mine of the Achinsk alumina refinery. Local residents were encouraged to remain calm.
