The day after the alleged suicide of American billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, MSNBC presenter Joe Scarborough spotted a “Russian trace” in the case.

A guy who had information that would have destroyed rich and powerful men's lives ends up dead in his jail cell. How predictably ... Russian.

“A man who possessed information that could destroy the lives of rich and powerful people was found dead in a prison cell. As predictably ... in Russian, ”Scarborough wrote on Twitter.

Recall that Jeffrey Epstein was detained in the MCC detention center in Manhattan, awaiting the start of the trial in the case of trafficking in persons and involving minors in prostitution. The media reported his death on August 10. According to preliminary data, he committed suicide.

The famous American journalist Glenn Greenwald, who at one time made public the exposures of former NSA officer Edward Snowden, commented on attempts to link the death of Epstein with Russia.

“Russia: a country located between Europe and Asia, a scapegoat for all times and tasks, a disease that has settled in the brains of the liberal establishment,” the journalist wrote.

He also pointed out that Scarborough himself, commenting on reports of the death of Epstein, ridiculed the theory of a conspiracy about the incident.

“The same person who immediately pointed to Russia and Putin as an explanation for Epstein’s death is now making fun of the authors of conspiracy theories, along with other journalists. If you are a mainstream American journalist, you can spread conspiracy theories with impunity, ”he wrote.

Political analyst Mikhail Sinelnikov-Orishak, in an interview with RT, noted that despite the unclear circumstances of the case, attempts to link the death of Epstein with Russia look rather absurd.

“In July it was already reported that Epstein allegedly attempted suicide, and, accordingly, he should have been under constant surveillance. Remember how they watched Russian condemned in the United States Maria Butina. So the circumstances of the case are really strange. But attempts to hang this business on Russia are simply not serious. It’s hard to imagine that they will try to connect this purely American history with Moscow - it’s just paranoia, ”Sinelnikov-Orishak emphasized.

Social Media Response

Statements that the death of Jeffrey Epstein may in some way be connected with Russia have been sharply criticized by journalists and social media users.

“It is quite logical. Everyone around Epstein was a huge supporter of Russia - Dershowitz, Wexner, Maxwell, Barry Crusher and Epstein himself. Just look at their philanthropic activities. She just screams "Russia!" - Anne Coulter, writer and political scientist, ironically noted.

Yes, that makes sense. Everyone around Epstein was a HUGE Russia supporter - Dershowitz, Wexner, Maxwell, Barry Krischer and Epstein himself. Just look at their philanthropies. It screams RUSSIA! https://t.co/X8v3OD4M0L

“Are they seriously trying to connect Epstein’s murder with Russia? How naive are people? Epstein had incriminating evidence about the Clintons, Trump, royal figures and an uncountable number of politicians, while the "geniuses" with MSNBC and George Takei talk about Russia? My head will burst now. God, ”wrote another Twitter user.

Are they seriously trying to tie the Epstein hit to Russia? How gullible are people? Epstein had dirt on the Clintons, Trump, royals, countless politicians, and the brain geniuses at MSNBC and George Takei are talking about Russia? I feel like my head's gonna explode.

In turn, the American political scientist Caleb Hull drew attention to the double standards that liberal journalists in the United States adhere to.

“Those same people who want to strip the right of the platform for spreading“ conspiracy theories ”are already blaming Russia for Epstein’s death. Incredible, ”said Hull.

Other Twitter users drew attention to the fact that the media successfully managed to make the older generation of Americans believe in Russia's "interference" in US political life.

“The Morning Joe program (hosted by Joe Scarborough on the MSNBC channel. - RT ) accuses Russia of killing Epstein, and that’s why I know that Joe Biden will receive the presidential nomination. The brains of liberals from the baby boomer generation are completely eaten by worms, ”wrote another Twitter user.

"The level of absurdity"

Recall, the American financier Jeffrey Epstein was arrested in early July. He was charged with trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation. This is not the first time that Epstein has been tried for such crimes - in 2008 he was sentenced to 13 months in prison after pleading guilty to organizing prostitution.

After the 2008 process, American media outlets circulated Epstein's notebook, which contained the names of influential personalities who used his private jet - the so-called Lolita Express.

These records featured former President Bill Clinton, former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Prince Andrew and other representatives of the Anglo-American political and business elite.

Donald Trump was also familiar with the financier, who, as a New York-based developer and television presenter, often attended Epstein's parties in the early 2000s.

In the case of the death of a financier, the degree of obsession with American journalists by "Moscow interference" reached its highest point, experts emphasize.

“Sometimes such a massive insanity happens - looping on one idea and panic. This is a fix idea, which they begin to stick to everything, and they begin to explain with it almost all current events. The American media has already gone very far in this, almost half of US citizens believe that Russia has interfered in their presidential election. Moreover, what this “interference” was, no one understands, ”said Yuri Rogulev, director of the Franklin Roosevelt US Study Foundation at Moscow State University, in a conversation with RT.

According to him, one should not take such attacks seriously, although such statements clearly have a negative impact on influence on politics and interstate relations.

“This is a typical crime, and connecting this event with Russia is simply absurd. But at precisely this level of absurdity, MSNBC, ABC and CNN have been operating for two years. They do not believe the results of Mueller’s investigation, and continue to promote stories about the Kremlin’s arm. This is a massive psychosis associated with the media that inflated all this. Now, with the help of such statements, they distract attention from real problems and engage in insinuations, ”concluded Yuri Rogulev.
