GAZA (Reuters) - The Israeli army said it had "thwarted a major operation" and killed four armed Palestinians at dawn on Saturday near the security fence surrounding the Gaza Strip, as the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) blamed the occupation.

"Four Palestinians were killed at dawn on Saturday after a military observation post spotted their approach.

He claimed that the cell was armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles, bags and wire-cutting equipment to penetrate the fence, RPGs, feed grain, dates and a medical bag.

"A very large operation was thwarted. We do not know whether the cell's target was military forces or settlers, but this was a big operation that was thwarted." The statement blamed Hamas for this cell.

The occupation army published pictures of weapons and ammunition which it claimed were in the possession of members of the group.

On the other hand, the Anatolia news agency reported that the Israeli army forces opened fire with machine guns near the eastern border area in the central Gaza Strip, as well as lighting lamps in the sky over the region.

Anatolia also said that the Israeli army bombed a site belonging to the Palestinian Interior Ministry, which is run by Hamas, without causing casualties.

Palestinian media reported that the Israeli occupation forces, accompanied by a bulldozer, penetrated east of Deir al-Balah and started combing operations.

Hamas warns
On the other hand, Hamas warned on Saturday that the continuation of the crimes of the occupation in the Gaza Strip will prompt young Palestinians to react individually.

"The occupation committed a new crime this morning against a group of young people angry because of its ongoing crimes and systematic terrorism and the ongoing siege of Gaza," said the movement's spokesman, Abdul Latif al-Qanou '.

A Hamas spokesman blamed Tel Aviv for the anger and pressure on Palestinians in Gaza over the continued blockade.

For its part, warned Islamic Jihad, on Saturday, "the explosion of the situation if the Israeli aggression and crimes against the Palestinians continue."

"Settlers' incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the siege on Gaza, the demolition of houses and incursions in the West Bank, and violations against Palestinian prisoners are all factors of the coming bombing," it said in a statement.

She added that "Israeli terrorism will not quell the growing anger in the hearts of our people, while holding Israel fully responsible for the consequences of its aggression and crimes against the Palestinian people."
