The so-called anniversary project, where Liseberg will build a new hotel and water park, will cost large sums and the park says it will depend on a substantial contribution to finance the construction.

The plan is to sell the land with associated hotels at Heden in central Gothenburg. Liseberg wants to sell everything in one package and discussions are now underway with the Real Estate Office in the City of Gothenburg.

- We would like to buy the land in the long term to have greater power over the area around Heden, for future possible construction, says Martin Öbo, property director Gothenburg City.

The hotel should remain

According to Martin Öbo, however, they are not interested in buying the company that runs the hotel and now discussions with Liseberg AB are ongoing.

- Our interest is not to help Liseberg with their financing, but it is the land we are interested in.

In any case, the plan is for the hotel to be continued, at least for at least another ten years, according to Martin Öbo.

Liseberg AB has, with the help of an external company, valued the land and the hotel at SEK 334 million. However, the property office's appraisers have estimated the value at SEK 290.

Liseberg AB also has the opportunity to sell the hotel and land on the open market.

Negotiations will continue and Gothenburg politicians will be able to make decisions during the autumn.

Liseberg's new hotel and water park is scheduled to be completed by 2021 and is estimated to cost almost SEK 2 billion.
