The leader of the Liberal Bloc was locked up in Conakry Central Prison a week ago following a defamation complaint.

On 26 July, during the inauguration of his party's headquarters, Faya Millimono accused the Minister of Justice, Mohamed Lamine Fofana, of having been part of the rebels who carried out operations in Guinea between 2000 and 2002 and of to have been their spokesperson. Armed men from neighboring Liberia and Sierra Leone, then in the grip of civil wars, attacked Guinea, officially killing hundreds.

But on August 1, the leader of the Liberal Bloc, an opposition party, finally admitted to the press that he had made a mistake of homonymy and apologized to the minister.

Heard and then locked on Friday, August 2, the opponent, who came fourth in the 2015 presidential election, was since that time in pre-trial detention at the central prison of Conakry. But his release on Friday does not mean that the procedure is over. Faya Millimono is still being sued for defamation. He is summoned Tuesday before the prosecutor.

Now in the history of our country we can expect people to be detained for defamation.
