“Attempts by ex-president’s supporters to destabilize the situation in Bishkek were thwarted by law enforcement officials. On the morning of August 9, the situation in the capital is calm, ”the message says.

Earlier, the Bishkek General Directorate of Internal Affairs reported that the situation in the capital of Kyrgyzstan was normalized and “fully controlled” by law enforcement officials.

On August 8, Atambayev was detained by security forces on the territory of his residence and then taken to the Main Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan. The court later arrested Atambayev until August 26.
